KABUL (Pajhwok): Ukrainian sea drones attacked Russia’s Black Sea resort city of Sochi late on Wednesday, injuring eight people and damaging beach infrastructure, Russian authorities said.
Authorities in the Krasnodar region said on Telegram that parts of the city’s beach infrastructure were damaged in the attack.
Reuters verified a social media video showing weapons being fired and an explosion on the Sochi embankment, with people heard screaming.
Ukraine has carried out near-daily drone attacks on Russia, including strikes deep inside the country targeting energy, export and logistics infrastructure. Sea drone attacks, however, are less frequent.
Sochi hosted the 2014 Winter Olympics and is home to an official residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
