KABUL (Pajhwok): US President Donald Trump is considering whether to join the war against Yemen’s Houthi group following a deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, according to media reports.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said 12 people were killed and 309 others injured in Saturday’s attack on the airport, with some of the injured in critical condition.

Reuters reported that the Houthis had claimed responsibility for the attack, the third on the airport within a week.

According to Al Jazeera, Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday that Washington was weighing whether to join the war against the Houthis. He said a decision would be made soon.

Trump also described the attack as “horrific” and said he would speak with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman shortly.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that an American citizen had been killed in the attack. He described the strikes as “unacceptable” and called for them to stop, according to the report.
