PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has asked more than 2,700 Afghan families living in urban parts of Mansehra district to return to their country voluntarily before July 1.

If the Afghan families dialed to meet the deadline, they would be expelled forcibly, the Afghan Refugees’ Department warned on Monday.

Abdullah Khan, administrator of the department, told journalists: “We have given the June 30 deadline for repatriation to over 2,700 Afghan families settled in urban areas of the district.”

If they did not comply with the orders, the government would have no option but to send them to their country by force, he said.

Each family voluntarily leaving for their country would be paid $200.

The department is also relocating over 1,050 Afghan families from two camps to keep them away from projects being executed under the China-Pakistaninfo-icon Economic Corridor.
