HERAT CITY (PAN fighters and their commander joined the peace process in the western province of Herat on Wednesday, an official said.
Led by Mullah Syed Ahmad, the rebels surrendered in the Zirkoh area of Shindand district, an intelligence official confided to Pajhwok Afghan News. The men also turned 13 weapons, the source said.
They were involved in roadside bombings and armed attacks in neighbouring Farah and Nimroz provinces, the Taliban commander told this news agency.
Separately, one fighter was killed and two others were wounded in a clash with police in the Azizabad area of the district, said police spokesman, Abdul Rauf Ahmadi.
