KABUL): A slew of development schemes will soon be launched in Khost province, the provincial governor said on Saturday.

Governor Abdul Jabbar Naeemi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the schemes would bring $150 million (about 7 billion afghanis) to the southeastern province, putting thousands of people to work and benefiting thousands through much-needed projects.

Those projects include roads, small and large bridges, customs facilities, schools, health clinics, parks, a dam and others.

Eight agricultural projects, a new building for the Khost Medical University, a 130-bed hospital, and a girl’s hostel are also part of the projects, he said

Naeemi said the projects are being implemented in consultation with all government departments, civil society groups, tribal elders, religious scholars and relevant ministries.

The schemes are funded by the Ministries of Finance, Public Works, Economy, Education) and other organizations, Naeemi said.
