Education activist Ahmad Fahim Azimi freed

KABUL (Pajhwok): After a year of imprisonment, education activist Ahmad Fahim Azimi was released on Thursday morning, relatives confirmed.

His brother Ahmad Fawad Azimi wrote on his X handle the education activist was freed from prison in the morning.

He wrote: “My brother has been released in compliance with the court  decision.”

Associated with Fikr-i-Naw, an educational organisation, had been arrested by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan forces from his office in October 2023.

Earlier, Amnesty International (AI) and some other international organisations had repeatedly demanded the release of Fahim Azimi.
