MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PAN): Two newly-constructed buildings for schools were inaugurated on Thursday in northern Balkh province, officials said.
One of buildings for Seikh Mohammad Siddique High School cost $150,000 which had been provided by the UN-Habitat, with area residents contributing 25,000 afghanis, Education Director Qais Mehrain told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the structure has administrative rooms and 16 classrooms accommodating 4,000 students.
The second building for the Ghulam Mohammad Maimangi High School cost $245,000, a joint venture of UNICEF and UN-Habitat. Area people contributed 20 percent of the amount.
Balkh has 504 schools where 10,199 teachers impart education to 54,0178 pupils, including 22,8812 females.
