MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Department of Environmental Protection of northern Balkh province said on Wednesday said 25 different types of birds that had been captured by hunters were released back into their natural habitat.

The birds were released back into the wild by Environmental Protection Agency officials on the Mazar-Hiratan highway yesterday.

Director of Environmental Protection Mohammad Mohammadi said the birds were released in the presence of representatives of Balkh provincial authorities, intelligence and police headquarters.

He also asked people to stop illegal hunting or legal action will be taken against the violators.

Also, Azizul Rahman, a resident of Mazar-e-Sharif, praised the work of the Department of Environmental Protection and said birds were beauty of environment and they should not be caught.

He said many birds were on the verge of extinction for being hunted excessively and some species had disappeared.

Before this birds and animals in some other provinces have been released into the wild.
