JALALABAD (PAN): An Afghan Local Police (ALP) commander was injured and his two guards were killed on Wednesday when a roadside bomb ripped through their vehicle in the Khewa district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said.
Commander Sheikh Ikram was travelling in the Shagai area when he came under attack around 9am, Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told Pajhwok Afghan News.
But an eyewitness said a woman, possibly Ikram’s wife, and his two guards were wounded in the powerful blast that destroyed the vehicle.
Civil Hospital Director Humayun Zaheer confirmed receiving Ikram in injured condition, saying the former jihadi leader was out of danger. There has been no word from the Taliban about the bomb attack.
