LASHKARGAH (PAN): Eight militants have been killed during a clash with police in southern Helmand province, an official said on Friday.
One local policeman was also killed and two others were injured in Thursday’s gunbattle that erupted in the Sistani area of Marja district, the provincial police spokesman said.
Col. Abdul Ahad Chopan told Pajhwok Afghan News police collected the rebels’ bodies after the firefight that continued until late night.
Police seized eight motorbikes, three Kalashnikov assault rifles and three machine guns, according to Chopan, who said six insurgents were caught alive.
