ASADABAD/METARLAM (Pajhwok): Bomb blast in Alingar and gunfire in Qarghio districts of eastern Laghman were reported, with voting in three polling stations of another eastern Kunar province delayed indefinitely, officials said Saturday.
Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Sayedkhel, provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News a total of 96 polling stations had to be opened for polling but three polling stations of them situated in Badil, Dangam and Chapi Dara areas could not be opened.
He said small clashes occurred in different areas of the province but polling process was going ahead with tandem despite sporadic incidents.
Militants were using all tactics to sabotage election in Alingar and Qarghio districts of Laghman. Parts of the province was still experiencing clash between security forces and militants.
Laghman Governor Fazlullah Mujaddadi said all polling stations were functioning well in the province and measures had been adopted to keep militants at bay from disrupting the process.
