Takhar family of 15 falls ill after chars-mixed meal

TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Fifteen members of a family, including women and children, fell unconscious after eating food mixed with narcotics in the Yangi Qala district of northeastern Takhar province, officials said on Saturday.

Sunattullah Taimur, the acting governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place last night in the Jalga area.

He said the individuals, including women and children, had started falling ill shortly after 10pm last night and they were taken to hospital this morning.

Public Health Director Dr. Fafizullah Sapi said chars had been added to the food that knocked the family members unconscious, but they were in stable condition.
