China delivers security scanners to Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): China on Sunday handed over to the Afghan Ministry of Interior (MoI) 400 security equipment, including four security scanners to be installed at the entrances to central capital Kabul, an official said.

Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Taj Mohammad Jahid, while receiving the equipment, said the assistance from China was one of the basic things his ministry needed.

He said the neighbouring country provided 400 security equipment including four security scanners that would help prevent explosives from being transported to Kabul.

China by supporting the MoI showed it was decisive in the fight against terrorism, Jahid said, urging the mighty neighbour to provide further similar assistance to Afghanistan.

Chinese Ambassador to Kabul Yao Jing, told a ceremony in this regard that: “We are struggling for security and stability in Afghanistan so that we have a stable neighbour and we thank Afghan forces for fighting terrorism.”

He said the scanners would detect and defuse explosive objects. Jing said a team of experts had been appointed to help Afghan forces install and use the scanners.

He said China had assured Afghanistan of its continued assistance in area of security and another package of such equipment would arrive in Afghanistan from China in the near feature.
