JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least 10 local and foreign insurgents have been killed and two other wounded separately in an airstrike and a clash in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Saturday.

The Nangarhar police spokesman, Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal, told Pajhwok Afghan News foreign troops targeted militants’ positions in Bandar area of Achin district on Friday night.

He said the drone attack resulted in the killing of two Daesh fighters, including Qazi Shahid, and five members of the Lakhkar-i-Islam (LI) insurgent group.

Meanwhile, the Haska Maina and Rodat districts police patrol team had also been attacked by Daesh fighters in Ghalaney area, he added.

Mashriqiwal said retaliatory firing by police personnel left three Daesh fighters, including two foreigners, killed and two others were wounded.

He acknowledged an Afghan Local Police (ALP) member belonging to Rodat district sustained injuries in the clash. No civilian suffered casualty in the clash.

There has been so far no word from insurgent groups in this regard.
