FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Judiciary and prosecution services are still unavailable in five districts of western Ghor to seek solution to their legal cases, local representatives say.

Provincial Council members said on Monday that justice and prosecution departments remained shut in Pasabadn, Chaharsada, Dolina, Shahrak and Taiwara districts.

They said the closure of justice services in these districts had forced common people to refer their cases to the Taliban for resolution, a situation that has widened the distance between common people and the government.

Abdul Rahman Attash, deputy head of the Ghor Provincial Council, said the absence of judiciary and prosecutors in five district of Ghor was a matter of grave concern.

He warned Ghor province was heading to a catastrophic form of governance because the masses had been searching for other addresses to seek justice.

“We don’t have judges or attorneys in our district, so people have no option but to go to the Taliban and local elders to resolve their disputes,” he said.

Anesa Ghor, another member of the Provincial Council, confirmed there were no judge and attorney officials in five districts.

She asked the government to activate the judicial systems in these districts as in their absence the legitimate rights of children and women were violated.

Meanwhile, the residents of these districts also complained about the absence of judges and prosecutors in their districts and confirmed they often referred to the local Jirga to resolve their disputes.

Abdul MaroufFaeq, head of the Appellant Attorney Office for Ghor, rejected the claim that there were no judges in five districts of Ghor and said apart from Dolina and Pasabad districts, attorneys were available in other districts.

“The attorney offices of Tolak and Taiwar districts have been transferred to the provincial capital and new officials will be introduced to replace them,” he said.

Governor’s spokesman Abdul Hai Khatebi said judiciary and attorneys were independent organs and their appointment was job of the central government and provision of security was local government responsibility. He also rejected the absence of attorney officials in five districts.
