KABUL (MoE) has appointed a team to investigate allegations of sodomy in boys schools in central Logar province.
The ministry appointed the delegation after Guardian newspaper published an investigative report about sexual misuse of male school students in Logar province.
A MoE statement received by Pajhwok Afghan News said the ministry was closely observing the performance of all workers of the ministry including teachers.
It said all national and international media outlets should use academic and acceptable standards for investigating such allegations.
It said writers of the investigative report should provide the number of people interviewed, the method of interview and evidence and documents of investigation.
The ministry says the Guardian report mentioned documents provided only in limited cases and that too not very clear.
The Guardian report says 546 boy students of six schools in Logar province were sexually misused by a circle of teachers, senior students and powerful figures.
A number of the victims whose videos were leaked on Facebook are killed, the report said.
It says five families after watching the leaked videos of their children on social media killed them. “Two children aged between 13 to 15 years were killed last week, but it is unclear who killed them,” the report says.
The report quoted some students as saying that principle of a school had a private room in the library for sexually misusing school children.
The report said a number of civil society institutes, youths and social organizations revealed the depth of the issue after discovering 100 leaked video clips of children’s sexual harassment on social media.
