<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> or lower house of Parliament on Wednesday approved a draft law on citizenship verification, cancellation or taking citizenship and supporting overseas Afghans.</p>
<p>Fida Mohammad Ulfat Saleh, head of internal security commission of the Wolesi Jirga, told today session that the draft law was referred to the lower house last year after it was approved by the cabinet.</p>
<p>He said the aim of this law was citizenship verification, managing cancellation or taking citizenship and supporting Afghan citizens living outside the country.</p>
<p>Wazhma Safi, a member of the commission, said that the draft law was in five chapters and 31 articles and was according to the constitution.</p>
<p>Based on this law, no Afghan would be criticized for cancelling their citizenship, she said.</p>
<p>Amir Khan Yar, first deputy speaker of the house, presented the draft law for vote and 103 lawmakers of total 131 present supported the law while only 28 others rejected it.</p>
<p>The law will be sent to the president for final approval after its passage from the <a href="/en/meshrano-jirga" class="glossify-link">Meshrano Jirga</a> or upper house of Parliament.</p>
