KABUL (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor (NSA) Hamdullah Mohib on Thursday said the ongoing security situation in northern Kunduz province was not acceptable, asking local civil and military authorities to discharge their responsibilities honestly.
Mohib, who arrived in Kunduz city, the provincial capital, met with civil and military officials, a statement from the NSA office in Kabul said.
The NSA said the security situation in Kunduz needed fundamental and lasting change, directing local officials to increase coordination among them and their cooperation with religious scholars.
Mohib asked security officials to come out of their bases and target the enemy inside their hideouts, believing the enemy could be easily eliminated in Kunduz due to its geography in presence of enough resources and people’s support.
The NSA was briefed about the security situation in Kunduz province and was told that security forces were able to recapture Warduj, Yamgan, Dehna Ghori and Darqad districts from insurgents. The NSA was told that the focus of security forces had been on hideouts of militants.
