<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> (Pajhwok): US special representative for Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad on Sunday said he was satisfied with his ongoing talks and hoped an agreement would be reached between the two sides.</p>
<p>The US peace envoy, who is Kabul, called on former President Hamid Karzai and discussed with him matters related to peace talks, a statement from Karzai office said.</p>
<p>Khalilzad expressed satisfaction over the ongoing peace talks and hoped the US would reach an agreement with the <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a>.</p>
<p>US Embassy’s <strong>chargé d'affaires</strong> Ross Wilson was present on the occasion.</p>
<p>Former president hailed Khalilzad’s efforts for peace and stressed more seriousness of US in peace talks and demanded Washington to halt its operations in <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a>.</p>
<p>He hoped violence would end in the country and the ongoing peace talks would yield a positive outcome.</p>
<p>Khalilzad during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani yesterday said no progress has been made during talks with the Taliban.</p>
<p>He said the US waited for clear response from the Taliban regarding ceasefire or reduction in violence. Khalilzad also met Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah on Saturday.</p>
