<p>JALALALBAD (Pajhwok): Canalisation department officials in eastern Nangarhar province say about 7,500 berry saplings will be planted to boost honeybee production.</p>
<p>Eng. Sayed Aghan Miakhel, an official of an agricultural farm, told Pajhwok Afghan News they had started planting 7,500 berry saplings in the farm.</p>
<p>He said the new plantation was aimed at promoting honey production in the province.</p>
<p>He said another aim of the garden was to pave the way for beekeeping in the country and prevent honey import from <a href="/en/pakistan" class="glossify-link">Pakistan</a>.</p>
<p>On the other hand, Provincial <a href="/en/agriculture" class="glossify-link">Agriculture</a> Department says it earned 125 million afghanis revenue this year, employing 3,000 individuals in the province.</p>
<p>Inamullah Miakhel, head of the department, said currently about 600 big and small farms of honey existed in the province and bees were kept in 25,000 boxes and they produced 500 tons of honey.</p>
<p>He said one kilogram of good quality honey was priced at 250 afghanis and the 500 tons honey generated 125 million afghanis revenue, employing 3000 individuals in the province.</p>
