<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> (Pajhwok): The number of coronavirus patients climbed to 25,527 in <a href="https://www.pajhwok.com/en/afghanistan"><strong>Afghanistan</strong></a> in the last 24 hours when at least 761 new positive cases were detected across the country.</p>
<p>On the other hand, new Covid-19 cases could not be reported from western Herat province for last two days due to lack of test kits in the province.</p>
<p>Dr. Shafiqullah Shahim, deputy public <a href="/en/health" class="glossify-link active">health</a> minister for financial and administrative affairs, told a press conference here that hundreds of individuals underwent tests during the period in 33 provinces and 761 of them tested positive for Covid-19.</p>
<p>Kabul recorded 237 new cases and Kunduz province 113 infections during the past 24 hours, he said.</p>
<p>At least 103 new cases were detected in Logar, 93 in Takhar, 37 in Parwan, 30 in MaidanWardak, 25 in Kandahar and 22 in Nangarhar.</p>
<p>Similarly, 16 cases were found in Panjsher, 15 each in Bamyan and Paktia, 14 in Baghlan, 12 in Uruzgan, 11 in Badakhshan, 10 in Daikundi, four each in Nuristan and Kunduz.</p>
<p>The ministry said 478 Afghans lost their lives to the Covid-19 while 5,090 others recovered from the pandemic so far.</p>
<p>In the wake of soaring cases, the government has extended closure of public and private schools and universities for another three months.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the MoPH has allowed the private sector to diagnose coronavirus in people after the disease affected almost every Afghan family.</p>
<p>Acting <a href="https://www.pajhwok.com/en/health"><strong>Health</strong></a> Minister Ahmad Jawad Usmani told media persons last week in Kabul that the Covid-19 disease had spread to every Afghan home and it was not possible for the government to diagnose the virus alone.</p>
