Contact groups to continue talks on disputed topics

<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a> negotiators met on controversial issues impeding intra-Afghan peace parleys on Monday evening in Doha.</p>

<p>A member of the government’s negotiating team tweeted: “Contact groups of both delegations held a meeting today and had discussions on controversial topics.”</p>

<p>Nader Naderi wrote the discussions, which have not yet yielded any breakthrough, would continue moving forward.</p>

<p>Dr. Mohammad Naeem, Taliban’s political spokesman, also tweeted: “The contact groups of both negotiating teams had a meeting on Monday evening.”</p>

<p>Three members of the Taliban delegation also took part in the meeting, he said, adding the two sides had discussions on the controversial topics. The meetings would continue until a final agreement was reached.</p>

<p>He said Taliban’s political office head <a href="/en/mullah" class="glossify-link">Mullah</a> Baradar Akhund also held a meeting with the Qatar prime minister, deputy PM and minister of foreign affairs.</p>

<p>Naeem said the meeting focused on the full implementation of the Doha agreement, intra-Afghan negotiations and others related issues.</p>

<p>The contact groups have been struggling to reach an agreement on procedural rules and an agenda for the intra-Afghan dialogue.</p>
