MoPH records 276 new Covid-19 cases, 19 deaths

KABUL Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Thursday said 276 new positive Covid-19 cases were detected during the last 24 hours that saw 19 people dying from the infection.

The ministry said 2,379 people underwent tests during the past 24 hours and the virus was detected in 276 people, pushing up the total number of cases in the country to 47,256.

Of the new positive cases, 114 were recorded in Kabul, 28 in Herat, 22 in Kandahar, 14 in Faryab, 13 in Takhar, 11 in Balkh, 10 in Maidan Wardak, nine in Paktia, nine in Baghlan, eight each in Khost and Samangan, six each in Kunduz and Parwan, five in Helmand, four in Zabul, three each in Uruzgan, Nimroz and two in Nangarhar.

At least 276 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, pushing up the number of recoveries to 37,302.

The ministry said that 19 people lost their lives to the virus during the period and the total tally of deaths reached 1,841.

The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
