KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Saturday said 83 new positive Covid-19 cases were registered in the last 24 hours nationwide.
The ministry in a statement said 978 people underwent tests since Friday and the virus was detected in 83 people, pushing the overall tally to 51,847.
The statement said 25 cases were detected in Kabul, 12 in Paktika, seven each in Takhar and Nimroz, six in Baghlan, five in Paktia, three each in Helmand and Kapisa, two each in Kandahar, Balkh, Parwan, Khost, Urozgan, Faryab and one each in Ghazni, Badakhshan and Logar provinces.
At least 260 individuals recovered from the pandemic during the past 24 hours, taking the recoveries to 41,012.
At least 10 people lost their lives to the virus during the period, with the total death toll reaching 2158.
The ministry has announced that the second wave of the pandemic has begun in the country and people should follow the virus preventive guidelines.
