12 security personnel killed in Nangarhar bombing

KABUL (Pajhwok): A dozen Public Order Police (POP) personnel were killed and four others wounded as a result of a suicide car bombing in eastern Nangarhar province n Sturday.

A well-placed source told Pajhwok Afghan News a Humvee was used in the bomb attack on a POP base and another such tank was seized close to the blast scene.

The governor house’s media office, confirmed the bombing, which took place in the Gandumak area of Sherzad district at around 4:30am.

An official source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said 12 security personnel were killed and four others wounded. The Selab Military Corps also verified the casualty figures.

But Ajmal Omar, the deputy chairman of the provincial council, said the bombing was carried out through a Humvee and another tank was captured by the security personnel.

He said 14 security personnel were killed and four others injured in. The security base was destroyed and many members if the security force were buried under debris.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.
