KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of flour, rice and black tea decreased while that of gold and cooking oil increased in capital Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.
Zamari Safi, head of Food Traders Union in Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the wholesale price of 49 kilograms of Kazakhstani flour dipped from 1,600 afghanis to 1,550 afghanis, 24kg of Pakistani rice from 2,400afs to 2,350afs and a kilogram of African black tea from 350afs to 300afs.
Safi said the aforementioned food items prices dropped due to low demand and high import to Kabul market. A 16 liters tin of Malaysian ghee rose from 1,900afs to 1,980afs, he said.
Safi said that other food items’ rates remained steady. He said that a bag of 49kg of Indian Sugar cost 2,300afs and a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 300.
HamedSofizada, a retailer in Dahan-i-Bagh market in Kabul, said a 49kg bag of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,600afs, a 49kg sack of Indian sugar 2,350afs and a 24kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,450afs, 16 liters of Malaysian cooking oil cost 1,950afs, a kilogram of Indonesian green tea cost 350afs and same quantity of African black tea cost 370afs.
Gold prices spike.
Mohammad Javid, a jeweler in Lycee Mariam area of Kabul, said that the price of one gram of Arabian gold increased to 3,750afs from 3,600 afs, and the same quantity of Russian variety to 3,250afs from 3,000 afs.
Fuel prices remain steady
A worker at Hashemi Fuel Station in Taimani area of Kabul said the price of one liter of diesel stood at 50afs and the same quantity of petrol at 46afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in KololaPushta area of Kabul said the price of one kilogram of the commodity remained unchanged at 60afs.
Haji Hussain, owner of the Sadaqat Money Exchange Service in Kabul, said one US dollar accounted for 77.80afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees 494afs, against last week’s 77.40afs and 497afs respectively.
