KABUL (Pajhwok): Commercial flights between Afghanistan, suspended after the Taliban’s takeover, resumed on Wednesday.

Iran confirmed the resumption of flights between the neighbouring countries with the landing of the Mahan Air plane in Kabul.

The return flight transported passengers from Tehran to Kabul, Fars News Agency reported, saying a second flight had also left Mashhad for Kabul

Having 580-miles common borders with the war-hit country, Iran hosts about 800,000 documented Afghan refugees and more than two million unregistered Afghans.

The news report said: “Today, Mahan Air carried passengers between Mashhad and Kabul airport. The airliner is returning to Mashhad with passengers.”

The private airline flew 19 passengers to Kabul on transported 26 people back to Mashhad. There was also a flight from Kabul to Tehran.
