PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Pakistani prime minister fears Afghanistan may slip into civil war if the Taliban fail to create an inclusive government.

In an interview with the BBC, Imran Khan said: “If they do not include all factions, sooner or later they will see a civil war in the country.”

He believed: “That would mean an unstable, chaotic Afghanistan and an ideal place for terrorists. That is a worry.”

Khan went on to set conditions for recognition of the new Taliban government by Pakistan.

He urged Afghan leaders to be inclusive, respect human rights and not to house terrorists who could threaten Pakistan’s security.

Afghan girls would return to school soon, the premier hoped, saying that preventing women from acquiring education would be an un-Islamic act.

Pakistan would make a decision on whether to formally recognise the Taliban government alongside other neighbouring countries, the prime minister explained.
