KABUL (Pajhwok): Turkish Ambassador to Afghanistan Cihad Erginay says Ankara will continue offering 300 higher education scholarships to Afghan students.
This year’s first position-holder in the university entry test Salgai Baran would also get a Turkish scholarship, he said in a statement on Monday.
The ambassador held out the assurance in a meeting with acting Higher Education Minister Abdul Baqi Haqqani on Sunday.
In a statement from the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), the diplomat said Turkey offered scholarships to the Afghan students if they should returned home after completing their education.
Haqqani hailed Turkey as honour and pride of the Islamic world. During the Ottoman Empire, he recalled, Turkey led the Muslim world and maintained cordial ties with the world.
He hoped Ankara would help provide higher educational facilities for Afghan students, resolve their educational issues and help estab of universities in Afghanistan.
