GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): The residents of southern Ghazni province are worried about growing incidents of kidnapping in the province and demanded such incident to be immediately prevented.
Ahmad Shah Khan, a resident of Ghazni city, told Pajhwok Afghan News that four kidnappings’ cases recorded in the past three months since the Taliban takeover.
He said the number of such incidents has increased compared to the past and worried them.
Mohammad Hassan, another resident of Ghazni, whose family members was recently abducted and later released by the Taliban during an operation, told Pajhwok that incidents had taken place during the previous government but had currently increased.
He called on the government to punish the kidnappers severely so that they could be severed as an example for others and thus prevent such incidents.
Maulvi Habibullah Mujahid, director of information and culture in Ghazni, told Pajhwok that the security forces were working hard to prevent kidnappings and no mercy would be shown to those involved in such incidents.
He said that the three perpetrators of the recent kidnappings had been arrested and would be punished according to Sharia law.
He assured that with the new measures taken by the security agencies, these incidents would be reduced.
