PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): For the first time in four decades, there is a real opportunity to stabilise Afghanistan, Pakistan believes.
Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, addressing a news conference in New York on Wednesday, noted that one government was ruling the entire war-torn country.
Pakistan being a neighboring country was bound to suffer in case of instability in Afghanistan, the minister told journalists.
He voiced Pakistan’s disappointment over the Afghan government stance on issues of concern, like girls’ education and restrictions on women.
“We believe that it is necessary to continue to engage with the Afghan government and persuade it to revise its decisions,” Iqbal added.
The only solution to the problems being faced by Afghanistan was more engagement with the Taliban administration, he remarked.
