KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has registered 3,292 aids cases — 75 percent men and 25 percent women — in the country, an official said on Sunday.
Deputy Public Health Minister Habibullah Akhundzada while addressing a gathering marking the World Aids Day said that poverty, displacement, migration, intake of drugs through syringe and other factors contributed in the growth of aids cases in the country.
He said besides limited resources, the MoPH implemented programmes for the prevention of aids while some aids diagnose facilities were present in the country from the past.
Epidemic Diseased Department Director Bismillah said: “We are here today to talk about the aids and get informed about the adverse effects of aids and take steps for its control.”
Aids virus transforms through blood from one person to another and it hamper the defence system of a human being. Its symptoms are Recurring fever or profuse night sweats, Extreme and unexplained tiredness, Prolonged swelling of the lymph glands in the armpits, groin, or neck, Diarrhea that lasts for more than a week, Sores of the mouth, anus, or genitals.
