KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in Afghanistan on Sunday said that climate change was reducing access to clean drinking water across Afghanistan.

OCHA wrote in its twitter page the proportion of households experiencing water shortages rose from 48 percent in 2021 to 60 percent in 2022

OCHA added the climate change has decreased people’s access to clean water and some $479.4 million was needed to solve the water and sanitation crisis in 2023.

Afghanistan has been experiencing severe drought since last several years and untimed rainfalls have caused a lot of damages in the country.

A recent UN report said Afghanistan was one of the most vulnerable countries to changes climate in the world.
