FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): The residents of western Farah province say flights between the province and capital Kabul canceled two years ago should be resumed.
They say if flights between Farah and Kabul are resumed, it will facilitate businessmen and also create jobs for locals.
Mohammad, a resident, said Farah has an airport and other facilities for flights but the flights remained suspended since last two years.
Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News: “Airlines companies already conduct flights between Kabul and Herat province which borders Farah province. Farah is a commercial province and has a port too, so the flights must restart to province as well”.
Mohammad Ibrahim, another resident of Farah, said if the flights were resumed, many jobs opportunities would be created.
He said: “If the flights are resumed, traders, workers of organizations and other donors will get facilitated and will create jobs opportunities”.
“The road from Farah to Kabul is rough and it is a long trip, the resumption of flights will create many facilities for the people”, Ibrahim added.
Officials of Farah airport said they had shared the issue with the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) and expressed the hope that the flights would be restarted soon.
Farah airport manage Maulvi Mohammad Anas told Pajhwok they had talked to officials of the MoTCA about the resumption of Farah-Kabul flights, which would be hopefully resumed soon.
Anas said: “We have no problem from our side, all facilities for flights are available, but I do not know why the flights are not conducted”.
Before the Islamic Emirate’s takeover, insecurity ruled the roads and a flight was conducted once a week from Farah to Kabul and vice versa.
Now as the war has ended, the residents of Farah want the flights to be resumed.
