GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Boats have been brought to the Sarda and Sultan dams in southern Ghazni province to facilitate tourists but visitors have demanded investment in rescue and other related activities at these sites.

Tourists said boats were made available to them at the site from the past two weeks but they still did not feel safe because there were no safety equipment and during the past two weeks 10 persons were drowned in the water swimmers.

Mohammad Omar, one of the tourists told Pajhwok Afghan News, it was good that some of the tourism companies invested in Sardi dam but no one should play with the life of humans, it is important that the safety measures should be given priority.

Omar added: “I witnessed the horrible incident in Sultan dam a week ago, when 6 members of a family including women were drowned in the water of the dams but the local swimmers succeeded to rescue them all, if there were no swimmers, they all could killed”.

But Mohammad Naeem, another visitor of Sardi dam told Pajhwok: “Look four persons are riding in a boat which is made for two persons and they even do not wear life jackets.

He said, a boat capsized in Sardi dam during Eid days, three of the riding men were rescued by divers but another minor of Yahya Khel district of Paktika province lost his life.

He added, the boats capsize or break down in the middle of water, the company who brought these boats must provide all other facilities for outreach during critical time.

The interviewers all ask the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) to consider the safety of the tourists and not change their trips to sorrow.

But the officials of Information and Culture Department of Ghazni reject all these words and call them baseless claims.

Mullah Hamidullah Nisar, the head of provincial information and culture department told Pajhwok, these entertainment materials have been provided by the Administration of Afghan Tour Office for the domestic and foreign tourists and all the income is also collected by Afghan Tour Administration.

According to Nisar, currently 12 boats had been brought to Sultan and Sardi dams and it is supposed that more boats will be also provided if needed.

This comes that earlier Ghazni Governor hailed those two swimmers who rescued six people including women.

It is worth mentioning these recreational facilities have been provided in Ghazni’s Sardi and Sultan Dams, which have recently attracted the attention of domestic and foreign tourists.
