KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting government has distributed 3.35 million afghanis among floods-affected families in the Jalrez district of central Maidan Wardak province.
Every family of the deceased was given 100,000 afghanis and of the injured 50,000 afghanis.
According to figures with the Afghanista Natural Disasters Management Authority (ANDMA), 27 people are now confirmed dead in recent floods, with another 17 injured. The flood partially or completed destroyed 400 houses and crops on thousands of acres of land.
The figures include 22 people who died after flash flood swept away a house where a wedding ceremony was taking place in Takana area of Jalrez district.
According to ANDMA, a delegation headed by Mullah Abdul Wase, the head of Prime Minister’s Office and Maulavi Abdul Wali Saranwal, the deputy head of Coherence Affairs Department, visited floods-affected areas of Busraq and Takana in Jalrez district.
The delegation distributed 100,000 afghanis to each family of 27 people who died in the floods.
The delegation provided 650,000 afs in aid to families of those injured in the natural disaster.
State-owned Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported that Doctor Mullah Abdul Wase travelled to Maidan Wardak province and after conveying condolence from the supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate (IE) to the affected families, he distributed 100,000 afs to each family of martyr and 50,000 afs to each family of the injured.
Mullah Abdul Wase assured the affected families that the Islamic Emirate would continue to assist them in future as well.
According to reports, three relief camps have been also established in Takana area of Jalrez district by government agencies to provide aid to the affected families and to coordinate with other aid organizations.
