LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Construction work has been launched on a new building for the emergency department of the provincial hospital in southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.
Helmand Public Health director Dr. Syed Ahmad Saeed told Pajhwok Afghan News the building for the emergency department of the provincial hospital in Lashkargah would cost more than nine million afghanis to be paid from the budget of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH). The two-storey building would be constructed on standard manner in six months.
He added: "The total cost of this project, including the building, is estimated at 48 million afghanis which will be paid from the internal budget of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA)."
About 17 million afghanis have been considered for equipment and personnel, 10 million for medicine and four million for oxygen and ambulance services, he explained.
Maulvi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzarda, Deputy Director of Finance and Administration at MoPH, told the inaugural ceremony that Helmand had a large population and services were being provided to the people as per their needs.
He said the building of the emergency department would have 15 beds and would solve problems people currently faced.
He said MoPH was planning to carry out similar projects in other populated areas of Helmand.
