KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) says the World Bank will reopen its office in Kabul and resume incomplete projects in Afghanistan.
Ahmad Wali Haqmal, spokesman for the ministry, said in a video clip the World Bank was interested in resuming its incomplete projects and payments for them by April 2024.
According to him, as a result of continued negotiations, the World Bank will resume work on 45 projects in Afghanistan, including CASA-1000.
The World Bank had announced suspending the schemes worth over $4.5 million after the Islamic Emirate’s return to power in August 2021.
The deputy prime minister for economic affairs believes if the international community lifts restrictions on the banking system and initiates positive interaction with IEA, significant economic development will take place in Afghanistan.
The deputy premier’s office claims some of the interim government’s achievements had been commended by the World Bank.
