ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Development projects at the cost of nearly three billion afs and $16 million implemented in eastern Kunar province in the past two years, an official said on Tuesday.
Mawlavi Abdullah Himmat, head of the provincial Economy Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News in the past two solar years development and reconstruction project worth over 2.8 billion afs and $16 million from the government budget implemented in the province.
He said 54 development projects, including 18 projects from the past government, had been completed in different sectors.
“Fifty-four small and large scale development project funded by the River Zone Authority, Public Works Department, Education Department, Municipality, Police Headquarters and Governor House had been completed,” he said.
Mawlavi Abdullah said thousands of people provided with work opportunity during the implementation of these projects.
He said currently work on 32 development projects was underway which will help generate work opportunities for thousands of people.
Meanwhile, some residents in Kunar were happy over the implementation of development projects in the province.
Malang Saleem, the resident of Dam village in Asadabad, said: “We are happy that rural roads, ditches and some buildings are constructed in most areas, we want that security situation had improved and there was need for more attention in the area of reconstruction and development.”
Hameedullah, another resident of Asadabad and a civil society activist, said that government should complete half-finished projects in the province.
It is pertinent to mention that some development projects started in the past government were yet to be finished.
