KABUL (Pajhwok): The power utility has inked an agreement worth $2.7 million with a Chinese firm for advanced metering infrastructure.
Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) Director Mullah Mohammad Hanif Hamza and a Shenzhen Calinmeter Co Ltd representative singed the deal, the power utility wrote on X.
It says the agreement focuses on the procurement of both single-phase and three-phase metres essential for enhancing Afghanistan’s power infrastructure.
Under the contract, Shenzhen Calinmeter Co Ltd will produce 150,000 standard electricity metres tailored to Afghanistan's requirements.
“Once these metres arrive in the country, they will be swiftly integrated into the electricity network, bolstering its efficiency and reliability. Previously, DABS customers had to procure metres from various sources in the open market, often at inflated prices.”
DABS aims to streamline the process, ensuring customers have access to quality metres at affordable rates.
The metres supplied by Shenzhen Calinmeter Co Ltd adhere to DABS specified standards, ensuring compatibility and reliability within the network.
