KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan Hassan Kazami Qummi has rejected reports regarding the killing of tens of illegal Afghan immigrants in the Sarwan border area.
The envoy said that on the basis a direct investigation of the matter reports regarding the killing of tens of Afghan illegal immigrants in the Sarwan locality were untrue.
Qoumi called the legal approach to prevent illegal immigration a legitimate right of countries and added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to the return of illegal asylum seekers and their illegal immigration at all borders; However, in this regard, it is fully legal, responsible and committed to the old policy of good neighborliness, Islamic compassion and international agreements.
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on his x.com wrote: “IEA’s different government institutions and diplomatic missions have launched an investigation into the reports regarding the killing and injuring of tens of Afghans at a common border area between Iran and Pakistan.”
He said the area where the incident had happened is outside Afghanistan’s territory, for this reason, authentic information was not available and necessary decision would be made after more information is available and the matter is clearer.
