PARAKH (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) will build three 30-bed hospitals in central Panjsher province, an official said on Monday.
Acting Public Health Minister Dr. Hujatullah Mohammadi told Pajhwok Afghan News these hospitals were being constructed in compliance with order from the Prime Minister and would be funded by MoPH in Dara, Hes-i-Awal and Parian districts.
He did not reveal the cost on the construction of the hospitals.
The hospitals will have facilities like general internal medicine, pediatric internal medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, ENT and operation theaters, he added.
According to Mohammadi, about three to 10 acres of land will be allocated for these hospitals and their construction will begin in spring season next year.
Governor’s spokesman Saifuddin Latoon explained that governor had asked people to choose a place to build these hospitals where the people of all villages can easily access the health centers.
Local residents welcomed the news and said hospitals in districts are their basic need.
“Residents are facing many problems in the health sector because clinics in villages are not able to respond to people’s needs, and patients are evacuated to Kabul or the 50-bed hospital for treatment”: Lutfullah, a resident, said.
Nazifullah, another resident, also considered the construction of these hospitals a good move and called it a serious need of the people.
Currently, the 50-bed hospital in Rukhah district and the emergency center in Anaba district are the largest health centers in the province.
