KABUL (Pajhwok): The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provided agricultural related trainings to nearly 20,000 farmers in Afghanistan at 739 training centers this year.
On its X, FAO wrote: “In 2024, @FAO trained 19,500 Afghan farmers through 739 Farmer Field Schools. This hands-on method equips farmers with sustainable practices, boosting yields and resilience.”
FAO provided short term jobs for 147,000 Afghans via cash-for-work programs and contributed $14.5 million to Afghanistan’s rural economy in 2024, the organization added.
According to FAO, it will provide livelihoods to more than 200,000 families in eight provinces of Afghanistan until 2026.
