PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Scores of Afghan nationals have been deported to their country after being arrested for crossing into Pakistan illegally.
Seventy-two Afghan citizens, who did not have travel documents, were detained in the Chaghai district of Balochistan province and deported to Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Dawn quoted a senior Levies officer as saying Pakistan had beefed up security in areas close to the Durand Line in an attempt to check illegal crossings.
In Chaghai district last year, Levies and Frontier Corps personnel conducted 10 joint operations, arresting 3,826 Afghan nationals.
The Afghan families, who had illegally entered Pakistan, were sent back to their country after investigations.
Pakistan recently set up passport offices in Chaman and Qila Abdullah districts, where 20,000 people have already been issued free passports.
