Work on ‘Imam Khomeini’ hospital completed in Bamyan

BAMYAN CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work has been completed on a 120-bed “Imam Khomeini” specialised hospital at a cost of 42 million US dollars in central Bamyan province, an official announced on Monday.

Funded by neighboring Iran, the hospital will be officially inaugurated in near future, Abdul Saboor Farzan Sighani, the governor’s spokesman, said.

He said all necessary medical equipment and facilities have also been provided by Iran in addition to the hospital’s infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Public Health Department officials also say healthcare challenges will resolve with inauguration of the hospital.

Public Health Director Dr. Javed Hakimi said despite the presence of 118 health centres in the province, the lack of specialised medical departments—including ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), ophthalmology, orthopedics, dermatology, and neurology—has caused serious problems for patients.

He added that the Imam Khomeini Hospital will offer services in surgery, cardiac and kidney transplants, ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), ophthalmology (Eye treatment), internal medicine, pediatrics, maternity care and intensive care unit (ICU).

He recalled construction work on the hospital was started approximately nine years ago and has now been fully completed.

The hospital will be officially inaugurated soon and will begin offering specialized medical services in various fields.

This development comes as Bamyan residents have previously expressed concerns to Pajhwok about the lack of specialized healthcare services in the province.
