Issues be solved via talks, Kabir tells Pakistani delegation

KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Refugee and Repatriation Maulvi Abdul Kabir has underlined the need to resolve problems through dialogue and diplomacy, saying the mistreatment of Afghan refugees and ‘military measures’ against them in Pakistan must not be repeated.

He made these remarks at a meeting with a visiting delegation of Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami party, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) said.

A statement from the ministry said the two sides discussed ties between Kabul and Islamabad and ways to resolve the existing problems.

The Pakistani delegation lauded the peace and stability in Afghanistan and said the situation had become reassuring since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).

The Pakistani scholars emphasised the unity of Islamic communities and hoped that, with consolidation of Islamic system in Afghanistan, the Afghan government would become a good example for the rest of the world.

The delegation also called for close ties between Afghan and Pakistani religious scholars and said priority should be given to talks to resolve outstanding issues between the two neighbouring countries.

For his part, Maulvi Kabir expressed gratitude to the people of Pakistan for their assistance and cooperation with Afghans over the past few decades.

He said IEA’s cooperation was extensive and assured that priority would be given to talks and diplomacy in resolving problems.

He described the mistreatment of Afghans and military measures in Pakistan as a matter of concern and emphasised that such actions must not be repeated.

Kabir said Kabul and Islamabad should live in peace and added that, thanks to Afghan people’s jihad, stability has been established in the region.
