KABUL (Pajhwok): Director of the Afghanistan Standard and Quality Authority Mullah Faizullah Tamim and Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Economy Anar Akhundov have discussed various economic issues, including boosting exports of Afghan products to European countries and facilitating transit.
Tamim met Akhundov, deputy minister of economy of Azerbaijan, on Tuesday, the Afghanistan Standard and Quality Authority (ASQA) said in a statement.
It said the meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry, the head of the Afghan state-owned Oil and Gas Company and several senior Azerbaijani economic officials.
It added the two sides discussed key economic issues, including increasing Afghan exports to European markets, facilitating transit arrangements, strengthening direct trade relations between the Afghan Oil and Gas Company and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), exploring investment opportunities and expanding bilateral cooperation.
Azerbaijani officials reiterated their commitment to expanding cooperation with Afghanistan.
Akhundov said that Azerbaijan was ready to enhance comprehensive cooperation with Afghanistan in various trade and economic sectors.
