Over 6,250 acres of land declared state-owned in Khost

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) says more than 6,250 acres of land have been declared state-owned in the Ismailkhel Mandozai district of southeastern Khost province.

In a statement, the ministry said the Special Court for Addressing Cases of State Land Grabbing in the central zone ruled, after reviewing documents and evidence that 6,252.5 acres of land belong to the state.

The land is located in the Mandozai Sahra area of the district and comprises a single cadastral parcel. It had earlier been examined by the Commission for Prevention of Land Grabbing and Restitution of Usurped Lands.

The MoJ said the case was referred to the special court under Article 17 of the Law on Prevention of Land Grabbing and Restitution of Usurped Lands, following ownership claims submitted by several individuals.

It added that, after assessing documents provided by claimants and the commission, reviewing land records, and obtaining information from relevant institutions, the court determined that the land is “uncultivated and barren” and registered in state ownership in cadastral records.

Following a comprehensive review of all evidence, the court ruled that the entire area is state-owned and instructed the commission to take necessary legal action in accordance with the law, the statement concluded.
