KABUL (Pajhwok): The deputy prime minister for administrative affairs says Afghanistan is interested in benefiting from Uzbekistan’s experience in various sectors, particularly technology and agriculture, during a meeting with the speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan.
The Deputy Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi met with Amanbay Orynbaev, speaker of the Parliament of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan and his accompanying delegation in Kabul on Saturday.
According to the statement, Hanafi highlighted Afghanistan’s promising investment opportunities and a positive spirit of cooperation, saying that nationwide security and other facilities provided for traders and investors would further expand relations between the two countries.
He added that Afghanistan is interested in benefiting from Uzbekistan’s experience in various fields, especially technology and agriculture.
Hanafi stated that Afghanistan and Uzbekistan share long-standing religious, historical, cultural and social ties that should be further strengthened and expanded.
He noted that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) seeks friendly relations with all neighboring countries, particularly Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, the statement quoted Amanbay Orynbaev as saying: “Our region has various resources including minerals, cement, lime, oil, and gas.”
He added that, in order to strengthen trade and transit relations between the two countries, a joint trade chamber between Afghanistan and the Republic of Karakalpakstan is set to be inaugurated today in Mazar-i-Sharif, which will pave the way for further cooperation.
He said: “We can cooperate in processing raw materials across different sectors and develop close trade relations with Afghanistan.”
Orynbaev also noted that Karakalpakstan offers special conditions, including tax incentives for traders and investors and welcomes the activities of Afghan businessmen and investors.
