KABUL (Pajhwok): The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) has expressed concern over recent airstrikes by the Pakistani military regime on civilians in Afghanistan, calling on international institutions to investigate the incident.

According to Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, 13 people, including 11 children, one woman and one elderly man, were killed and 14 others, including women and children, were injured in airstrikes carried out on civilian homes in Kunar, Khost and Paktika provinces on Wednesday night.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) also said on its X account that 13 civilians were killed and 10 others injured in the airstrikes, with women and children accounting for most of the casualties.

Meanwhile, the International Human Rights Foundation said in a statement on Wednesday that attacks on residential homes raise serious concerns over possible violations of international humanitarian and human rights law.

It stated that, according to reports, repeated attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, destruction of homes and property and forced displacement, leaving many residents compelled to flee in search of safety.

The foundation urged the UN Human Rights Council and the International Criminal Court to investigate the incidents, document evidence and ensure accountability for those responsible.

It also stressed the need for immediate protective measures to safeguard civilians in communities that continue to face the threat of cross-border attacks.
